In this phase we take the architectural concept and the client briefing and produce an MEP engineering design brief for the project. This can involve developing project strategies, outline specifications and reviewing options.
Option appraisal might include assessing the pro’s and con’s of 3 different heating systems for example. We would review them inline with building requirements and then provide the client with advice to help them make a decision.
In this phase our engineers will undertake design studies relating to the outline specification.
We may produce MEP engineering design information that reflects the conclusions of those studies and deliver them to the client and design team.
That information is normally drawn into a set of plans and specifications that outline the design requirements.
These can either be taken forward to the next stage of the design or they can be in the form of a performance design or a design-and-build tender package.
This is the next stage of the design where we expand on the performance level design and convert it into a fully detailed package. We take care to co-ordinate with structural engineers and architectural designers.
GLD will support our clients and contractors through out their tendering process and cover their MEP engineering design queries during the construction phase.
We are there to review contractors proposals, help with queries, client instructions, QA check-in on site and witness the testing and commissioning.
