This is a new build development for a new client and project team. We were asked to take an existing stage 4 design and update to construction whilst undertaking VE to reduce on capital cost. One of the areas where we were able to do this was in regard to the photovoltaic installation. We were able to work with the client and architect to improve the M&E system u values and building fabric details to remove the as designed PV panels from the roof and still pass the design stage SBEM for part L building regulations with the 10% improvement on building regulations required by the planning permission.
