Northfield Leisure Centre is a new build project near Birmingham, West Midlands. This £7.7m centre includes a 25m swimming pool, learner pool, 75-station gym and group exercise studios.
We were responsible for detailed design and commissioning of all building services. We took a stage 3 design to stage 5 for the M&E contractor From above ground drainage, water, electricity and natural gas supply to ventilation and air conditioning as well as lighting, emergency systems and pool monitoring. We included low temperature hot water heating, refrigerant heat pumps and syphonic rainwater systems.
The building management system gives users control over heating, lighting, access and alarms.
A leisure centre is always a challenge with varying temperatures, soundscapes, humidity and access control in a building with many different types of users. We love it.
